That's right. It's just about business as usual in the Facebook gaming world, with Zynga sitting pretty on top despite adversity with FarmVille 2. The sequel to the original currently welcomes a whopping 8.7 million daily players, up from 6.5 million last month. (We focus on daily active players, or DAU, as its a better measure of a game's true stickiness, and therefore, success.)As per usual, Zynga holds the top three spots, butKing.com's Candy Crush Saga has made a resurgence in daily players, with a surge of 300,000 to fourth place and 4.8 million total. However, a steep decline in daily ChefVille players to the tune of 1.1 million is also partly responsible for that. The Zynga game now sits in fifth place with 3.9 million daily players.
Aside from a few more shakeups one way or the other, things are largely the same as they were last month on Facebook. Well, aside from EA and Playfish's The Sims Social falling off the list completely this month. (It lost 300,000 daily players in the time before this list was created.) That made room for newcomers like Pyramid Solitaire Saga, which hit the list at the 21 spot with 1.7 million daily players.
These displacements further up the chart allowed high-profile releases like Ruby Blast Adventures and DoubleDown Casino to return to the list in 23rd and 25th place, respectively. But frankly, aside from games that launched months ago from Middle Eastern companies like Halfquest and Peak Games, this list hasn't seen a challenger in a long time. That raises an important question: Is this what the social game landscape will look like for the foreseeable future?
